This year’s President’s Project is:
Canines For Service – Custom-Trained Service Dogs for Individual Veteran Needs
Canines for Service is a nationally accredited nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of Veterans through custom-trained service dog partnerships. Founded in 1996, we are the longest-running ADI-accredited service dog provider in North Carolina, and one of just 91 accredited organizations in North America. More than their credentials, they’re known for compassion, commitment, and customized approach.
They serve Veterans with service-connected disabilities, whether physical or psychiatric, and provide every dog, training session, and travel arrangement at no cost to those served. Each dog is trained for one specific Veteran. That’s why it’s called a partnership, not a placement. Once someone joins the Canines for Service family, they’re with them for life including access to successor dogs when the time comes.
The goal is simple: help Veterans reclaim their independence, rebuild their confidence, and reconnect with life – one dog at a time.
How to Donate – Donations can be made at any Department of NC conference or Convention. You may also mail donations to American Legion Auxiliary – Dept. of North Carolina | P.O. Box 46315, Raleigh, NC 27620 (please use the Unit Donation/Obligation form and mark the memo line of the check “Presidents Project”.
